Due to the catastrophic floods that have afflicted our country, the seminar "Exercising the right of Roma to quality health care," which was to be held on May 21st in Smederevo, has been postponed until further notice.

Thematic Committee for Health Protection SKRUG and Minority Rights Center organized a seminar on "Implementation of the rights of Roma to quality health care ."

The seminar will be held on 21st May 2014  from 12-16h in the Regional Centre, Gorski Kotar (building of the former " Monopoly " ) II floor, Smederevo.

The project, supported by the Foundation for an Open Society from Belgrade, is aimed at promoting equal access to appropriate and equal quality of health services Roma and non-Roma population.

The seminar covers the following topics:

1. Respect the rights of Roma in access to health care and non discrimination - Regulations and Practice (lecture Marta Sjeničić, Doctor of Medical Law)
2. Protection of Roma Rights in the context of the quality of health services in the local community - Advices for health (lecture: Hajrija Mujović - Zornić , Doctor of Medical Law)
3. Health Roma - the possibilities of preserving and improving the health of the local community (lecture: Dragan Miljuš, Master of Medical Sciences)
4. Roma - the right to health care as a basic human right (workshop facilitator representative of the Committee for Health Protection League Roma)

VII SKRUG Conference held in Sokobanja 

The conference of SKRUG held in Sokobanja 28th and 29th of April, was attended by over 60 civil society organizations, government institutions and officials of international organizations, with more than 100 participants.

The content of the conference included the presentation of the annual results regarding the work of the Standing Conference of Roma citizens associations - League of Roma with thematic committees, exchange of experiences and opinions on the situation of Roma policy review, and progress of the Decade of Roma in Serbia.

The coordinators of the thematic committee for employment, health, education, gender equality, migration, housing, culture and information, youth, stood at their annual reports, as well as plan and framework for the committee.

Some of the most important conclusions are that it is necessary to establish 10 regional committees in Serbia with the aim of giving more powers to solve the problems of the Roma community at the regional and local level, as well as the League of Roma should actively involve in the creation and implementation of human security policies at the national and local level.

In the framework of SKRUG Strategic Plan, the League of Roma planned constitution of 14 thematic (expert) committee of the League of Roma, who constitute permanent working body of the League of Roma and participate in the consideration of questions regarding the National Strategy for improving the position of Roma.

On the 17th April in the Open Society Foundation facility there was the first meeting of the Board of Education and theme and members of the committee are representatives of civil society, state institutions, representatives of international organizations.

It is recommended that the plan frame work of the Board of Education and Board of Education analysis predict work within four bargaining issues for Serbia's EU. Also, the Board of Education needs to influence the negotiating Chapters 2 and 3 relating to labor migration and education.

It was concluded that the League of Roma, or Board of Education, compete with the Delegation of the European Union in the framework of the current call with a proposal within the early development of children.
